Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
ProductHunt.si (“we”, “us”) runs a public auction for the domain name producthunt.si. This policy explains what information we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible.
Who is responsible for your data
The owner of the domain producthunt.si is the data controller for information submitted on this website. You can reach us at any time using the .
What we collect
When you place a bid, we collect:
- Your name, as you enter it.
- Your email address, so we can contact you about your bid.
- Your bid amount and the time it was placed.
- A one-way hash of your IP address. We do not store your IP address itself. The hash is used only to limit how many bids can be placed from one connection, to prevent spam and abuse.
We do not use cookies, advertising or cross-site tracking. Visiting the site without bidding does not create any record in our bid database. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.
Website analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they view. It does not use cookies and does not identify or track you across websites. Visitors are counted anonymously in aggregate (for example, page views, referring site, country and device type).
How we use it
- To run the auction and determine the highest bid.
- To contact the winning bidder to arrange the sale and transfer of the domain.
- To reply to you if you contact us.
- To prevent fraud, spam and abuse of the bidding system.
We will never sell your information, share it with advertisers, or add you to a mailing list.
What is shown publicly
The public bid history shows only your first name and last initial (for example, “Alex M.”), your bid amount, and when it was placed. Your email address is never shown publicly and is not available through any public API.
Legal basis
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process your information to take steps at your request before a potential contract (the domain sale), and on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a fair auction and preventing abuse.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run this website:
- Supabase — database hosting, where bids are stored.
- Vercel — website hosting and privacy-friendly analytics.
- Email provider — when you or we send emails about the auction.
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their own security and data protection commitments.
How long we keep it
We keep bid information for as long as the auction runs and for up to 12 months after it closes, so we can complete the sale and handle any follow-up questions. After that, it is deleted. Information relating to the completed sale may be kept longer where required for legal or accounting purposes.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, or to withdraw your bid, at any time. Deleting your information removes your bid from the auction. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To make a request, . We will respond within 30 days.
Security
Bid data is stored in a database that is not publicly accessible. Only the site owner can view email addresses. Connections to this website are encrypted with HTTPS.
Children
This website is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly accept bids from minors.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
